Quotation Two

“One should rather die than be betrayed. There is no deceit in death. It delivers precisely what it has promised. Betrayal, though ... betrayal is the willful slaughter of hope.”
-Steven Deitz

This quote says that it is better to die than to be betrayed, as death does not lie about what it will bring. This is probably the most anti-betrayal quote that I could find. It seems a bit extreme at first, but after you think about it, you start to see where the author is coming from. This quotation takes the side of the betrayed. Not only does this quote show the side of someone betrayed, but it shows the perspective of someone who has been through a very harsh betrayal, most likely by someone they trusted very much.

Steven Dietz is a highly accomplished american playwright. Much like the author of my first quote, Dietz must have a great deal of experience with creating characters and their feelings. By creating all these characters he would be very familiar with the concept of betrayal...
